The Last Alps Event

I arrived in Italy on the Monday evening to torrential rain and gale force winds, the tournament this week was a slightly different format to the others with the first 36 holes been played on two different courses.

One tree lined and well designed with a premium on placing your ball not just on the narrow fairways, but on the correct side too. The other was the complete opposite and a large field with flags on!!!

The Tuesday didn't see the weather get any better, infact it got far worse,!! Both the courses were shut for practice as they were waterlogged, so this meant a 36 hole practice day on Wednesday!!

I played the tougher of the courses first and the rain had really made the golf course not far off unplayable. The fairways were still waterlogged and the greens very slow, but i played very nicely and shot a good 4 under 67. That saw me in 2nd position behind Jason Barnes who kept up his good end of season form with a 6 under 65. Around the other course the scores were a lot lower and again I played nicely, but with a few silly mistakes and poor bogeys but managed a 3 under 69 for a total of 7 under and three shots off the lead. The last round was played round the tougher course, I didn't play aswell as the first two days but hung in there well to be level par for the round and still in 5th place in the tournament, however, all my hard work was undone on the last hole with a triple bogey seven to push me way down the field and a tie for 19th.

Home for a week now and then out to Barbaroux near Nice for the AGF Allianz finals. This tournament see's the top 30 from the Order of Merit play for a €70,000 purse. Let's hope for a good finish to the season.
