Moortown

After a few problems when finishing my last event, I had to withdraw from Slovenia and Austria which was disappointing as they are both courses which i know well and have had some good finishes in the past few years.

I decided to play a Northern Pro Tour event for the first time mainly because it was at Moortown Golf Club, host to the Ryder Cup in 1929, I had played it before at the Brabazon Trophy when i was 17, a great testing golf course.

I drove down to Leeds to have a practice round a few days before the event, and just like you would expect with the great British weather the heavens opened when i stepped on the tee, after 5 holes of torrential rain I was the only idiot on the course but I finished my practice round anyway!!!!

I drove down the day of the tournament, it was an early start for my 10.00am tee time and with very strong winds it was set to be a real test of patience and grinding out pars.

I played very well all day and managed to control my ball flight which was essential in those conditions, I eventually grinded out round of 72 for a two shot victory and a good days work!!!

I go to Belgium on Monday for a Challenge Tour event which I was fortunate enough to get an invite for, so lets hope to keep the good form up and have a great week
